I’ve never liked the smell of bleach, but I'm sure not a lot of people do. I dislike it the way I dislike bananas and peanut butter. The way someone hates the smell of gasoline or black licorice. The way vegetables smell once they’ve ripened too far. My head snaps up at the sound of someone clearing their throat, accidentally sloshing some of the bleach water I was using to wipe down the counters of the concession station. I frown as droplets splatter my shirt, if I ruin another uniform, I'll have to buy the next one, that means extra shifts and more visits. The broad framed man stands taller than even I do at my six foot three. His brown eyes seem closer to black in color and something about him makes my skin prickle with the wrong kind of goosebumps.

I wish the feeling wasn’t familiar that I didn’t don it like an old coat.

“Medium popcorn bundle please.”

My stomach twists, my heart knotting up the same way as it always has when that voice washes over me. Everything in me tenses. Making the ache in my ass only more humiliatingly pronounced.
